About PolyTrack

Kodub's low-poly time trial racer with loops, jumps and a full track editor, inspired by TrackMania and free to play.

PolyTrack is a racing game about one thing: the clock. You drive a small car through low-poly tracks full of loops, jumps, banked turns and boost sections, and try to cut milliseconds off your best time. Independent developer Kodub, who names TrackMania as the main inspiration, first released it on the web in December 2022 and keeps adding to it with regular updates.

Every run is a time trial, so you race against your own ghost and work your way up the leaderboards one corner at a time. The built-in track editor is just as big a part of the game. You place road pieces, loops and checkpoints with the mouse, test the design right away and export it so other players can race it.

PolyTrack is built with Three.js and the Bullet physics engine. Kodub offers it free in the browser and as downloads for Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, with an optional name-your-price contribution on itch.io. Version 0.4.0 added touch controls for phones and tablets, and later updates brought winter and desert environments, new shadows and an undo button in the editor.

Features

  • Restart with R as soon as a run goes wrong, since a clean attempt beats a recovery.
  • Ease off the throttle slightly before tight turns instead of braking hard.
  • Race against your ghost to see exactly where you lose time.
  • Study a track in the editor to find the fastest line through each section.

Features

  • Time Trials: Every track is about beating your best time
  • Ghost Racing: Race recorded runs to see where you lose time
  • Track Editor: Build, test and export your own tracks
  • Community Tracks: Race courses made by other players
  • Low Poly Style: Clean graphics that load fast in the browser
  • Touch Controls: Playable on phones and tablets since version 0.4.0
